New Music Sunday

Sundays are made for new music. At least, in my world they are. Nothing better than sitting down with a cup of tea on a quiet Sunday and finding some new tunes to get me through the coming week.

This Sunday is all about Christmas albums. I’ve become addicted to tracking down Christmas music that I actually like. Turns out, my friends and favourite artists actually make that task fairly easy. Here are a few of the albums I’ll be treating myself to this week:

I’d love to hear your recommendations - anything I’m missing out on?

The Sad Science of Hipsterism

This, then, is the essence of being a hipster. Pretending you aren’t one.

An Old Ugly Christmas

I kind of want to try this.

Help me help a friend.

nfinternational:

If any tumblr people want to join in too that’d be wicked!

I was hoping you guys could help me out with an art project I’m working on!If you have a spare couple of minutes in the next couple of days I need your help finding coffee in your respective cities.

1. On any scrap paper you have, hand write directions from your house (or a major intersection near you) to the nearest place to get coffee. Be as detailed or as vague as you want, pretend you’re directing a stranger. You can give street names or landmarks or cardinal directions, it’s all up to you.

2. Write your name and city at the bottom of the note

3. Take a picture of the directions and e-mail it to jc[dot]lau[at]utoronto.ca (replace accordingly)

It’s perfectly acceptable if it’s low resolution (like on a camera phone or a webcam) and it’s fine if you want to scan it too.

If you could pass this along to any other international friends you may have, that’d be great too! I’m trying to collect a lot, but I’m not TOTALLY sure how many I’m going to use in the end.

Thanks for your help!
